Free loan of litter picking kit

Environmentally-minded volunteers in Somerset are being offered the free loan of litter-picking equipment for community clear-ups.

Mendip District Council will supply pickers, bin bags, gloves and high visibility jackets.

Councillor Alistair Glanvile said: "We are encouraging communities to take some pride in where they live."

The council is also offering advice to areas blighted by flyposting, abandoned vehicles and flytipping.
